Privacy Policy – Unthink
Last updated: 20 September 2026
Unthink is made by Nico Lange, Schlehenstraße 29, 71540 Murrhardt, Germany ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@getunthink.app.
The short version
- What you write and do in Unthink stays on your phone. We never see it.
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics.
- We only receive what is technically needed to run subscriptions.
1. What stays on your phone
Unthink stores the following only in the app's storage on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else:
- the name you enter (optional) and your answers from the first-run questions
- which exercises you did and how you answered "Better?"
- your favorites and settings (haptics, help-line country, check-in time)
- messages and worries you park, and your saved "Fact vs. Story" cards
Because this information never reaches us, we cannot read, analyse, share or restore it.
Deleting it: Settings → Delete everything removes all of it at once, including scheduled reminders. Deleting the app does the same.
Device backups: if you back up your phone (for example with iCloud Backup), the app's storage can be part of that backup like any other app's. That backup is between you and your backup provider; we have no access to it.
2. Notifications
Reminders (the daily check-in and "parked" items) are scheduled locally on your phone. We do not run a push server and do not receive a notification token. The texts are neutral on purpose and never contain what you wrote. You can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings at any time.
3. Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store). We never receive your payment details.
To check whether a subscription is active we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) as our processor. RevenueCat receives: a random app user ID created on your device, the product you bought, purchase and renewal dates, the store country, and technical data such as your device type, OS version and IP address. It does not receive your name or anything you wrote in the app.
- Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
- Transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in RevenueCat's Data Processing Addendum.
- Storage: for as long as needed for billing and legal retention duties.
4. Crash reports
If the app crashes, a technical report (error message, device type, OS and app version) is sent to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA) so we can fix the problem. The reports are stored in Sentry's EU region (Frankfurt, Germany). They contain no texts you entered, no name and no advertising ID. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a stable app (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Reports are deleted automatically after 90 days at the latest.
5. Help lines
When you tap a help-line number, your phone's own phone or messaging app opens. We do not learn that you did this or whom you contacted.
6. What we do not do
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of data, no profiling, no analytics SDKs.
7. Children
Unthink is made for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 16.
8. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and to object. Since your content exists only on your phone, you exercise most of these directly in the app. For subscription data write to hello@getunthink.app. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one responsible for us: Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart (https://www.baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de).
9. This website
This website (getunthink.app) only shows information and these legal pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. It is hosted by Netlify (Netlify, Inc., USA). When you open a page, Netlify's servers log your IP address, the time and the requested page to keep the service secure and running; these logs are deleted after 30 days. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Netlify's Data Processing Agreement.
If you e-mail us, we use your address and message only to answer you and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
10. Changes
If the app starts handling data differently, this policy changes first, and the date above with it. Material changes are announced in the app.
